Honda Insight Tires: Sizes, All-Season and Winter Tires

The lifespan of your Honda Insight tires will depend on how you drive and whether you are driving on all-season, summer, or winter tires, according to Kicking Tires. Driving with your Insight out of alignment will shorten the tires’ lifespan as well as driving on under-inflated tires. Kicking Tires estimates the life of a tire to be anywhere between 20,000 and 50,000 miles, however there is no set interval for when your Honda Insight tires will need to be replaced. Check out this list of potential replacement tires for your Honda Insight.

Sizes for Honda Insight Tires

Honda Insight tires

All three Insight trim levels have the same tire size and Honda advises sticking to the Insight’s original tire size. “Honda vehicles meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards when they are originally distributed, and modification could affect the safety and/or operation of the vehicle, as well as remove it from compliance with specifications and standards mandated by the Federal Government,” according to Honda.

The original equipment tires that Honda uses can come from any of eight dealers. These dealers include: Firestone, Continental, General Tire, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Yokohama, Dunlop, or Michelin.

All-Season Tires

Firestone’s FR710 tires provide a comfortable ride due to the tire’s wide footprint.

  • The Michelin Defender tire provides enhanced grip when accelerating, braking, and cornering due to MaxTouch construction. The tire also offers improved fuel efficiency thanks to IntelliSipes, which lower rolling resistance.
  • Firestone’s FR710 tire has wide flow-through grooves and deep shoulder slots, which improve traction in wet and dry conditions. A wide footprint helps provide a comfortable ride.
  • The General Tire Altimax HP tire offers a quiet, comfortable ride due to a twin cushion silica tread compound and acoustic modulation sound technology. Increased grip is possible with reactive contour technology.
  • Dunlop’s Signature II tire has multi-directional siping that helps with traction in wet conditions. Evaqua Grooves direct water away from the tire’s tread for more responsive handling in wet conditions.
  • Yokohama’s AVID Ascend tire provides a quiet, comfortable ride thanks to a multi-pitch tread design. Adaptive 3-D sipes help with traction in wet conditions and fuel efficiency is improved with the tire’s low-rolling resistance.
  • The Goodyear Assurance All-Season tire has multiple biting edges that offer traction in wet and dry conditions. Road noise is lessened thanks to an optimized tread pattern and large, stable shoulder blocks help with handling in wet and dry conditions.
  • The Continental ProContact tire improves fuel efficiency with temperature-activated, functional polymers. Silane enhances grip in wet conditions.
  • Bridgestone’s Ecopia EP422 tire improves fuel efficiency and provides a quiet ride. A lowered rolling resistance due to a fuel saver sidewall compound helps with fuel efficiency. Circumferential grooves help move water away from the tread. This tire is also made of 5 percent recycled ground rubber.

Winter Tires

Even though all-season tires can handle wet conditions, winter tires have better traction on snowy roads and perform better at temperatures below 45 degrees.

The Dunlop Winter Maxx tire improves wet handling and traction in the snow.

  • The Dunlop Winter Maxx tire is made of a nano-fit rubber that helps with traction on ice. Wide grooves and lugs help with traction in the snow and handling in wet conditions.
  • The Yokohama iceGUARD iG52c improves traction in winter conditions. It has a middle-of-the-road rating for noise and comfort.
  • Goodyear’s Ultra Grip Winter tire has multiple biting edges that increase grip on snowy and icy roads. Traction is also improved by the directional tread pattern. Wide tread grooves help move snow and slush away from the tire’s tread.
  • General Tire’s Altimax Arctic tire has an integrated, multi-angle 3-D sipe system that maximizes traction. An all-weather dual tread compound keeps the tire flexible in cold temperatures.
  • The Firestone Winterforce tire has a directional tread pattern that optimizes performance in wet and dry conditions. High-sipe density and a 3-D tread pattern improves traction in wet conditions and on ice.

Continental, Michelin, and Bridgestone have winter tire options, however they didn’t meet the size specs for the Honda Insight.
